Description

Uses, Benefits, Dosage & Side Effects of Seroflo 250 Rotacaps

This medicine is a combination respiratory medicine containing Salmeterol and Fluticasone Propionate. It is used for the long-term treatment of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Fluticasone reduces swelling and inflammation in the airways, while Salmeterol is a long-acting bronchodilator that keeps the air passages open for easier breathing.

This medicine is supplied as Rotacaps and must be used with a compatible Rotahaler or Revolizer device. It is a maintenance medicine and is not meant for sudden breathing attacks.

This medicine is prescribed for:

  • Asthma requiring regular controller therapy
  • Moderate to severe persistent asthma
  • Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
  • Frequent wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, or shortness of breath
  • Prevention of asthma attacks and COPD flare-ups

This medicine is not used for immediate relief of sudden breathing difficulty.

  • Fluticasone Propionate: An inhaled corticosteroid that reduces inflammation, swelling, and mucus production in the lungs.
  • Salmeterol: A long-acting beta-2 agonist (LABA) that relaxes the muscles in the airways and keeps them open for up to 12 hours.

Together, these medicines improve breathing, reduce wheezing, and help prevent future asthma or COPD symptoms.

  • Use this medicine exactly as prescribed by your doctor.
  • Do not swallow the Rotacap.
  • Insert the Rotacap into a compatible Rotahaler or Revolizer device.
  • Breathe out fully before inhaling.
  • Inhale the medicine deeply and steadily through the device.
  • Hold your breath for about 10 seconds after inhalation.
  • Rinse your mouth with water after each dose and spit it out.
  • Use this medicine regularly, even if you feel well.

Rinsing the mouth after use helps lower the chance of oral thrush and throat irritation.

Usual Dose:
The dose depends on the strength prescribed. Seroflo Rotacaps are commonly available in strengths such as:

  • 50 mcg Salmeterol + 100 mcg Fluticasone
  • 50 mcg Salmeterol + 250 mcg Fluticasone
  • 50 mcg Salmeterol + 500 mcg Fluticasone

The usual adult dose is 1 Rotacap inhaled once or twice daily depending on the prescribed strength and severity of the disease.

Missed Dose:
If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you remember. If it is nearly time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue your regular schedule. Do not take extra doses.

Overdose:
Too much medicine may cause tremors, fast heartbeat, headache, dizziness, chest pain, or worsening breathing symptoms. Seek medical help if overdose is suspected.
